Why Go Organic?

Organic body jewelry allows a piercing to 'breathe' much better than the synthetic materials often worn in piercings. Materials such as metal, glass and plastic tend to cause oils, lymph, dead skin, etc. to sit and stagnate in a more or less contained environment. This gives rise to some nasty smells and undesirable buildup on the jewelry. Plastic jewelry is particularly bad as it has a slightly porous surface that harbors bacteria. This has coined terms such as 'ear cheese' and 'ear stink', referring to the odor often associated with large gauge piercings such as stretched ears. Many organics - particularly hardwoods - virtually eliminate this problem.

While standard measurements, styles, and sizes are most common, custom work is always welcome. Double flared, single flared, or no flares, notched for O rings, carved face, hand picked pieces with grain features such as burls or unusual colors...
